Tetra Schiff Bases as Polyvinyl Chloride Thermal Stabilizers
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tetra Schiff bases were used as thermal stabilizers to enhance the properties of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) when operated at high temperatures. The stability PVC films doped with was tested by weight-loss method, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, aging test, optical microscope, and atomic force microscope (AFM). Results showed that embedding these additives increased time polymer, which decreased degradation reaction tendency. Furthermore, primary color improved adding using oven-aging. In addition, resulted in a significant reduction PVC’s conjugated double bonds and, hence, weight loss.

Thermal Degradation of Polyvinyl Chloride
A survey is given of the recent advances in the study of and the present knowledge of the thermal degradation of polyvinyl chloride. The sites for initiation of the thermal degradation, the mechanism of the dehydrochiorination, the discolouration of PVC by heat and the influence of plasticizers on the rate of degradation are discussed.

BACKGROUND Relatively inexpensive, stable Schiff bases, namely 3-((4-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-2-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (BZ3) and 3-((4-(dimethylamino)benzylidene)amino)-2-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (BZ4), were employed as highly efficient inhibitors of mild steel corrosion by corrosive acid. FINDINGS The inhibition efficiencies were estimated based on weight loss method. Moreover, scanni...
